True Love 

True love for our Prophet is what men's hearts require, 
And to reach that great station is our sincere desire. 
But this gift of true love is a gift from Allah, 
And it is He who bestows on hearts which are pure. 
What is the source of this true love? - Allah Ar-Rahmaan Ar-Raheem. 
What is the fountain of His mercy? - it is Nabi al-Karim. 
Nabi al-Karim al Mustafa, most beloved of Allah, 
True light for true believers, Noor-um-min noorillah. 
Now the truest of his lovers still shine before us like the stars; 
They show their love by their obedience - for them the Sunnah is the fardh. 
So we remember those great people, who spread Islam near and far, 
The members of his blessed family and all the brilliant Sahaaba. 
They came from tribes of the mighty, they came from families of the meek, 
And the best of all those lovers was Abu Bakr As-Siddique. 
Siddique because he truly trusted each word and deed of Rasoolallah, 
And he gave all his wealth and actions fi-sabeelillah, 
Only Allah knows the pure heart that is ready for the truth, 
And he turns enemies into lovers - the best of whom was Umar al-Farooq. 
These men were wise, they were gentle, their goodness there for all to see, 
And among all those Noori faces shone out great Uthman al-Ghani. 
True and just to peaceful people, they were fierce with the kuffaar, 
And none showed this contrast better than great Ali al-Murtaza. 
The members of that blessed family we still treat most respectfully, 
And pray that they be given blessings like those of Nabi Ibraheem. 
The descendants of the great Sahaaba, they still light up the Ummah, 
And who are those true inheritors - the great Mashaa'ikh, the Awliyaa', 
For though we may be veiled from Allah, might seem far from his Nabi, 
Yet we can move in this direction by seeking out the true Wali. 
Nearness to Allah ta'ala means nearness to Rasoolallah, 
And one who would attain his nearness, needs nearness to his true lover. 
The one sure way to warm a cold heart is connection to the Awliyaa, 
For by one smile the friend of Allah gives out the warmth of his fana.
