I'm a Christian lady who is studying Islam ,and I am frightened because
for the first time in my life my faith is truly challenged! If Islam is
the true path, then I want Allah to make it known to my heart. PLEASE
pray for me. I have studied the Bible and the Torah for many years, and
I even studied Hebrew under a Rabbi for several years so I could read
the Torah in it's original language. This is how serious I am about
knowing the truth of Allah. Now I am reading the Quran,(the English
translation) and I am so confused and torn between everything that I have
always read about the death, burial ,and resurrection of Jesus ,and the new
things that I am learning in Islam, through the Quran that contradict
those teachings. I truly am open to the truth of Allah, and I want only
the truth. PLEASE pray for me. Are there any converts out there who have
been through this? I am the daughter of a Baptist Minister! I feel so

Asalam Alaikum Donna,
I am a recent convert who was raised as a Baptist, in fact my brother is a Baptist minister. Not long ago I found myself in the same shoes you are in now (as our backgrounds are more similiar than you might realize). To come to terms with my doubts and feelings I visited the local Mosque/Islamic Center and began talking with the scholars there. Many of my questions were answered and a new light was shed on my faith. I dont look at my conversion to Islam as giving up my faith for another... but rather taking the next step in bringing me closer with Allah (God in the christian terms). I can tell you that I have never felt more comfortable, loved, and genuinely cared for than I do now.
I will pray for you sister, that Allah give you the answers you are looking for. My email address is email@example.com if you would like to open a dialogue with me, I could put you in touch with my fiance who is very instrumental in helping me in my conversion to Islam.

This was very well said. I also felt this way. When I found out that Islam is the most modern religion it really made me think. If God thought that we were doing okay with the Bible and the older scriptures then he wouldn't have needed to have revealed the Qu'ran to Mohammad (pbuh).
But (and this is my opinion) he saw how the Bible had been adapted, edited and twisted around and then revealed the truth to Mohammad. And the Qu'ran has *never* been changed. Not one word. And not one accent. There is an intro at the start of the Yusuf Ali copy which says something to the effect of "This is the book..direct from Allah..". I swear Donna, I nearly dropped the Qu'ran when I read that. It really came home to me that this was word for word what Allah had said. Not like the Bible with its letters from St.Paul or bits of this and bits of that thrown in and other things edited out.
So what I'm trying to say is that there is only one God, that of the Christians and that of the Moslems is the same God. And his most recent revelation is the Qu'ran and the most recent prophet is Mohammad (pbuh). If you buy a brand new TV then why do you read the instruction manual from a 1950s version?
(If I'm not allowed to make analogies then please let me know.. :-) )

Peace be one those who are guided
If you read the Quran, you will know that the most important message that comes out of it is the ONENESS of Allah, that Allah is one, with no if's, but's, or whatevers. This is also true of both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Now in Islam, Christains are said to have gone astray as they broke this commandmant about worshiping someone other than God i.e. Jesus (peace be upon him). So the question I would like you to think about is this : are the things written about Jesus (PBUH) many years after he died in line with the general message of all the Prophets in the bible, that there is only ONE God ? If Jesus (PBUH) preached that there was only one God, why would he want people to worship him (i.e. Jesus (PBUH) ?)
Feel free to e-mail me if you want to discuss this further.

Hi- May God's peace be with you. You are very lucky that He has choosen you to find the right path.
You are at a cross roads now. God willing you will choose the right turn.
I am a revert too- I surely understand the confusion, dismay, and wonderment you are now feeling.
Similiar to you, Yusef Estes is the son of a Baptist Preacher. This is his website- http://www.islamtoday.com/Default.htm
I have listened to some of his lectures and found them entertaining and insightful.
What part of Islam are you struggling with now?
