Diary of an Umrah Story
The minarets of the prophet's mosque can be seen across Madina peaking up here and there through
the new high rises and hotels surrounding the Masjid. One of the nights we
looked up and noticed
the moon next to one of these minarets, but oddly enough it wasn't a
sideways crescent that we usually see in North America but seemed like a
half drop from the sky. And we thought the crescents on top of the
minarets were circular for designs sake!

We also went on Ziyara in Madinah. One of the places we visited was the
sight of the Battle of Khandaq (the Ditch). Today there are 6 masjids
built around the area representing the 6 Muslim garrisons that fought. The
ditch however is gone, paved over by a modern road.

Madinah has always been renowned for its dates. We could not leave
without buying some real Madinan dates from the famous Madina Date Market. They
had our favorite dates stuffed with nuts and even chocolate covered dates!
