The list offers news and announcements of current events of the Albany, New York Capital District Area as well, as articles on Islam and news from other Muslim communites and around the world.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the Albany Muslims E-group is to publicize Islamic events, activities, resources and opportunities around the Albany, New York Capital District area.

GOALS: The e-group is a tool to help all members keep connected and updated as to events and announcements throughout the community so that we can meet our goals. These being:

o To help foster brotherhood and sisterhood and better relations among Muslims in the area.

o To help each other in our needs.

o To increase community participation and attendance.

o To keep each other informed .

o To help increase our knowledge and Imaan.

o To serve Allah (swt) and further the cause of Islam.

GUIDELINES for posting on Albany Muslims E-group:

What SHOULD be sent:

Announcements about any local upcoming events --i.e. seminars, classes, picnics, Islam TV shows

Announcements about any national events of interest

Calls to action --i.e. upcoming planning meetings, suggestion of an idea to be implemented

Requests for information on Islamic community

Helpful community resources to share

Extremely relevant articles and stories that that may enrich and help group members

What should NOT be sent:

Questions and discussion on Islamic Fiqh, community politics, world politics, etc are not the purpose of this list. (Use the Madina Message Board for Islamic discussions instead.)

Organizational logistics and planning, discussion etc should be cut down to a minimum. (Use the Faith In Action e-group instead.)

Personal responses or specific questions about a certain posting should be sent only to the poster and not the whole group.

Forwards/chain mails/click here ads should not be posted.

No posts with any kind of verbal abuse, personal attacks, flames, profanity or insults are allowed.

Un-Islamically sound messages or events not deemed appropriate for the list may not be allowed.

Avoid big files or many attachments.
